Completely random moment I just had to capture. I put my chocolate bunny next to my computer, along with a bottle of Ibuprofen. It just looks wrong…
Thanks for the care package Mom and Dad! I have to say, the box of Raisin Bran Cereal was an awesome surprise! My roommates couldn’t believe you were able to fit that in such a small box!
Advice from Sir Richard Taylor
I had the amazingly good fortune tonight to meet and actually have a conversation with one of the biggest names in the film business: Sir Richard Taylor. His company’s work is in Lord of the Rings, Avatar, Planet of the Apes, Master and Commander, and King Kong (just to name a few!). He was so inspiring! I want to share with you all what he had to say to me and my friends tonight:
1. The worst person you can be is a bored person. You have been given the privilege to live in a first world country and come from a well-off family with so many opportunities available to you. Don’t waste it doing something that you are not passionate about.
2. Take chances.
3. Do something that you love, not for the money but for the love of doing it.
4. Passion, imagination, and dedication come before raw talent. Artists are innovative thinkers first and foremost. Talent comes later.
5. Work hard. If you have a day job and find it doable, get a night job as well. Challenge yourself!
6. Every experience, even if it feels like a failure, is a learning experience.
7. Use your time at college to network. When you graduate, don’t say goodbye to your friends. Keep them as contacts; they are the people you will be collaborating with in the future. When you are in college, befriend your favorite artists. Get to know the people whose work you admire.
8. If you think your work isn’t appropriate for the job you want to apply for, apply anyways. Your passion will win them over.
9. Concept artists create entire worlds. There are no limits to this world, only the limits you impose on your own train of thought. When you are brainstorming, anything goes. Don’t limit yourself or you can potentially pass up a brilliant idea.
10. Never grow up.
